Kyle Bostwick, VP VT Lake Monsters

Kyle Bostwick, VP of the Vermont Lake Monsters, paid our Rotary club a visit this morning, encouraging us to root, root, root for the home team and visit the Vermont Lake Monsters this summer.  The Lake Monsters, an A-Ball Affiliate of the MLB Oakland A's, are Vermont's only professional team, drawing fans from all 14 Vermont counties.
The Lake Monsters not only provide excellent entertainment for local sports fans, they also hire 150+ plus Vermonters throughout the summer and help raise funds for roughly a dozen different charities in the area.  In 2015, the Lake Monsters directly contribute over $112,000 to the community.

All Vermont Rotary members are encouraged to attend the special Lake Monsters' Rotary Game on Sunday, August 20th versus Connecticut, at 5:05pm.

The Lake Monsters play at Centennial field on the UVM campus.  Did you know the first game played at Centennial Field was on April 17th, 1906?  From the Lake Monsters' web site:

"The park is one of the oldest still in use in professional baseball. It was part of the sports complex constructed as part of the UVM Centennial celebration. The current concrete and steel main grandstand was erected in 1922, to replace the original wooden bleachers which had burned in 1913. The modern comforts, like concession stands and rest rooms were added in 1995.  The Lake Monsters added a brand new 27-foot by 16-foot video board and new scoreboard in left field...for the start of the 2012 season.  Also for the 2012 season, each of the light towers were taken down and replaced by new light towers with new wiring, fixtures and energy efficient lights as part of "Musco Green" technology.  The Lake Monsters have also renovated both the home and visiting clubhouses over the past couple of years, while the Centennial infield underwent a total renovation including regrading and resurfacing."
