Champlain Community Services (CCS) is a specialized services agency focused on employment and career development. Their array of coordinated services includes vocational, home & shared living, and community supports for people with intellectual disabilities and autism throughout northwestern Vermont. Beth shared with us wonderful stories of CCS's work to help intellectually disabled individuals find fulfilling work in Vermont. CCS provides essential one-on-one services including employment, independent living and self-advocacy support. They are focused on INCLUSION and INDEPENDENCE. They focus on ability, not disability, and prioritize consumer choice to maximize independence.
CCS has many great upcoming events. The Vermont Care Network Cultural Competency Conference is next Wednesday at the Davis Center at UVM. The event is already SOLD OUT. The event will discuss "Working with Community Providers, First Responders and Educators to Advance Equity and Cultural Competency."
Then, on May 10th, they are conducting Belonging: An Evening of Stories, described as "an exciting night of stories on the theme "belonging," told by members of the Champlain Community Services (CCS) "family." Clients, staff, volunteers, and family members affiliated with this Colchester-based nonprofit, which serves Vermonters with intellectual disabilities and autism, share their experiences of belonging." You can learn more and register for the event by clicking here.
Finally, anyone can donate to Champlain Community Services to aid them with their great work. To donate, please click here.
Thank you, Beth, for visiting us and good luck with the upcoming events!
