Kimberley Diemond from Big Brothers Big Sisters of Vermont visited our Rotary Club this morning to discuss how local Big Brother Big Sister chapters are consolidating into one Vermont organization.

Kimberly is the Executive Director of the Vermont chapter.  BBBS started in 1904 in New York and has been in Vermont since 1975.  Kimberley's chapter now serves Chittendon and Windham counties.

Per their web site:

Since 1975, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Vermont (formerly BBBS of Windham County) has been dedicated to providing children age 6-17 with strong and enduring professionally supported one-to-one relationships that change their lives for the better, forever!
The Vermont chapter currently matches 125 children with mentors.  Mentoring involves "professional supported friendship," providing children with life experiences outside of their home and school.  By partnering with parents, BBBS aims to help each child achieve:
  • Higher aspirations, greater confidence, and better relationships

  • Avoidance of risky behaviors

  • Educational success

Kimberley, thank you very much for visiting us this morning!
